About Me
Thank you for visiting this site. I have served as a minister for 30 years. Study Bibles have been a valuable tool for my personal study and preparation for Bible classes and sermons.
Study Bibles contain many helpful features for a better understanding of the Bible's meaning. First, study Bibles contain a detailed introduction to each book. The introduction typically explains the author of the book and the date that it was written. It will also give information about the background and setting of the book. The study Bible may also describe important historical and theological themes that are addressed in the book. Another helpful feature of the introduction is an outline of the book. This will give the reader a brief overview of the contents.
Second, study Bibles contain notes or commentaries on the Bible verses. Some of these comments may be historical. Others may explain the meaning of words. Still others may give an explanation of the meaning of the text. (Keep in mind that interpretive comments may vary depending on the theological perspective of the editors and writers.)
Third, study Bibles contain maps, charts, pictures and illustrations that give the study additional information about people, places and events described in the Bible.
My hope is that you will invest in one of more study Bibles that will help you in your quest for a greater understanding of God's Word.
